DHS 2010 Player By Player
A Quick Glimpse…
Choons – A goalkeeper with loads of room for improvement. Performed reasonably well over the four games, only to be let down by the occasional nerves and lack of concentration. Must train even harder to be a better keeper, given his natural ability.
Kuan Liang – Fast, aggressive with good reading of game and fast interception, the next Ming wei of DHS can only get better to lead the team in 2011. Missed a few goal scoring headers in the matches, thus missing the opportunity to be the BIG player that he can be.
Christopher – Dependable at the back with tremendous power to clear the ball to ease the pressure on the team. Good partnership with KL that see only goals scored from open play in the 3rd game (VJC.
Wayne – The Vice Captain and Voice of the team. He is No Rooney, but contributed admirably when called upon to deliver a disciplined and fantastic captain’s performance in the match against VJC. A player with the potential to play even better, given his nifty footwork and is deceptively quick in cutting out attacking passes. Above his game, an enthusiastic person who is always willing to help and speak up for others.
Geng Zi – Fast, aggressive player who fought back his starting berth by showing his worth in the lead up games and tournament proper. Previously, a frustrating player who commits too quick in his tackles, poor in stamina, withstood coach’s criticism and overcame injuries to emerge one of the best players in the team. For one who never fail to talk the talk, he FINALLY walked the walk
Teck Huat – Versatile one who gives his best in both fullbacks’ positions. Fast and Fast improving player. Hugely reliable back up to defence
Yuhding - A no nonsense forward, midfielder, converted to attacking defender whose heading prowess provided an edge in our attack in corners. Managed to get into good scoring positions but failed to plunder a couple in. Very fast, hard and stable to have in a back four.
Elton – The ‘SPECIAL ONE’ trained as a defensive midfielder infront of the back four but was kept out of the side by a superb performing Evan and reinvent himself in right back and right midfield, playing very well whenever he was called upon. Intelligent player more knowned for his on and off field antics that bamboozle both opponents and teammates alike. This behaviour often belies his excellent aptitude in training.
Evan – Former attacking player known for his quick eye for through passes converted into a sitting midfielder to spray and distribute long passes. A silent, quick and strong player protecting and supporting Yong Seng and CQ in their forays.
Yong Seng – Superb athletic ability with great control, orchestrating the play, linking defence to midfield to attack, our captain was rewarded with a goal.. however, giving away a penalty unfortunatelyin the same game. A must-have player, need we say more? Our Captain MARVEL is a shoo-in for DHS ALL TIME DREAM TEAM.
CQ – Player who rose from the wilderness to play regularly in a coveted centre midfield position. CQ is accurate in his crosses, shots and passes, rewards reaped from his hard work, determination and pride in his game. An excellent midfield partner to YS, they set up numerous attacking plays and created alot of goal scoring opportunities.
Samuel - Arguably the most aggressive player in the team. Together with his speed, detemination and direct play, Sam gives the team a huge lift going forward and never gives the opponents an easy. Fought tooth and nail in all matches, just like he fought his way back into the side. Impressive.
Sherman - Elegant, Calm and Creative midfielder, successor to YS and CQ, with a cracking shot is poised to spearhead DHS challenge in 2011. Would have to build on his strengths this year. Wasted the goalscoring chances that came his way but showed a preview of his attacking capability in the last game (CJC).
Jianfeng - Enigma. His exploits in the final 2 games gave new hope to the coach for 2011. A hard trainer and driving force when going forward, JT …oops, sorry.. JF is committed to running back to help out in defence. Currently not known for his shooting ability, he more than makes up for it with his willingness to take on defenders. Which JF will turn up in 2011?? Only time will tell…the world awaits
Royston – Pocket dynamo is able to create goal scoring chances on his own and totally at ease in attack. Require to add more team play in his arsenal in order to devastate opponents further. His jinking runs into the opponents’ penalty box have caused many problems and only a finishing touch to the end of the run would be justice to his skill.
Matthew - Expected more from a player with good skill and excellent team play. Struggled with the pace and aggression of the opponents, but most crucially, found his form dipping at the wrong time.
Vincent – Kungfu Panda should have more tricks up his sleeves. Brave, determined and strong, Vincey proves a handful to most defence. A forward/striker has to bag goals. Period.
Qihang - Drafted into the team as one of the strikers, given his uncanny ability to ghost past players in most unexpected moments. However, learning the correct time to release or take a shot is another skill to hone. Coach has faith in this unfinished article but given limited time, it is up to the individual to attain the next level.
Yiling - a.k.a Edgar Davids (Similarities end at the goggles) is a good strong player with neat footwork. Adding the physical fitness, speed and stamina to his game would elevate him nearer to the actual Davids.
Bing Geng - Drafted as cover to the goalkeeper role, given his handling and shot stopping ability. Huge passion for the game and a hard trainer. Would need to train more to fulfill desire to be top notch centreforward.
